The two minors arrested for allegedly committing a racist attack in the Madrid Metro last Wednesday have been

released without precautionary measures

, as sources from the Madrid Prosecutor's Office have informed Efe this Monday.

The events took place last Wednesday, September 9,

on line 4

of the Madrid Metro, when three girls, two 15 years old and one 16, allegedly

insulted and spat

at a couple of Latin American origin.

A passenger recorded the assault on a video in which the arrested women are seen spitting on the couple and hurling insults at them such as "

Fucking panchito

. You are a product of a broken condom, they don't have condoms in the jungle."

Agents of the Mobile Brigade of the National Police identified the three minors and arrested two of them, as

allegedly responsible for a hate crime

, and they were placed at the disposal of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office.

The Prosecutor's Office opened proceedings for this event and, after taking statements from the detainees, has released the two young women, without precautionary measures.

The progress of the investigation will determine if there is a crime

and of what type, according to these same sources.

According to the Criminal Code, a

hate crime

punishes those who publicly encourage or promote hatred, hostility, discrimination or violence against a group, a part of it or against a person for racist, anti-Semitic or other reasons related to ideology, religion or beliefs.

Regarding this fact, the Madrid president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, considers that this attack on a couple of Latin American origin

is not "a racist issue"

and has attributed it to "family breakdown, drugs and other addictions such as new technologies."

Ayuso has thus referred, in his speech in the first session of the debate on the state of the region, to the events that occurred: "Although at first it seemed a racist issue, deep down it is not (...) that scene carries something else: what happens to those girls? ", has questioned Ayuso, who has alluded to

addictions that" are a breeding ground for violence and marginalization at a very early age

.

"

And he added: "Only with the fight against old and new drugs and the improvement of the educational system and employment opportunities, will we overcome these evils."
