The Paris Bourse lost ground on Monday at midday (-0.25%), investors limiting risk taking in the face of uncertainties related to the health situation, the post-Brexit file and a busy agenda.

At 13:42 (11:42 GMT), the CAC 40 index took 12.60 points to 5,046.74 points.

On Friday, it ended up slightly up 0.20%.

The Parisian place opened on Monday on a favorable note but its gains dwindled over the morning.

The other major European indices moved slightly in the negative: the German Dax dropped 0.06% and in London, the FTSE 100 lost 0.11%.

In the debt market, yields on 10-year sovereign debt eased slightly.

On Wall Street, where technology stocks continued their correction on Friday, futures contracts showed a mixed opening: before the opening, the flagship Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.12%, that of the broader S&P 500 index gained 0.10% and the Nasdaq, with a strong technological coloring, rebounded 0.65%.

"However, the climate may remain cautious at the start of the week dominated by the meeting of three major central banks; the Fed which will make its monetary policy decision on Wednesday followed by the Bank of England and that of Japan", Franklin analysis Pichard, director at Kiplink Finance.

Finally, "the situation continues to deteriorate between London and Brussels, Boris Johnson accusing the Europeans of wanting to create a food blockade against Northern Ireland", he adds.

The US Central Bank is holding its monetary meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday, the last before the November 3 presidential election, as Democrats and Republicans are deadlocked on voting on a new aid plan for the US economy.

The stake mainly concerns its forecasts for the American economy until 2023.

"The only indicator that has a real interest in really judging the strength of the recovery will be the unemployment rate and its forecasts", observes Christopher Dembik, head of economic research at Saxo Bank.

Weekly jobless claims, published Thursday, remained stable in the United States compared to the previous week, but the job market remains far from that before the pandemic.

In addition, the health situation is not improving in Europe where the number of daily cases is increasing worryingly in several countries such as France or Spain.

Israel applies as of Monday a national reconfinement of three weeks.
