A leader who does not know how to succeed in clinging to power.

This is how SVT's correspondent describes Lukashenko's actions during the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

- The only support Lukashenko can get that gives him that opportunity is that Putin makes sure that he will stay, says Bert Sundström in Aktuellt.

- The important thing for Putin is that Belarus does not leave the Russian sphere of interest, such as Georgia and Ukraine.

In practice, the country could be governed by the Kremlin in the future.

After all, if Lukashenko resigns, it would create problems for Putin at home.

- Should the protests force a change of power, it will be a signal to Russian residents that it is possible to change things through protests, Sundström says.
