In pure money, this is a reduction of SEK 15,108,000 when it comes to hired nurses and the costs for the hired doctors have decreased by SEK 4,783,000, a total of SEK 19,891,000.

Pandemic and long-term

Behind the reductions is a long-term work from Region Västmanland to reduce its cost and dependence on temporary staff, but when it comes to temporary nurses, it is also about an effect of the corona pandemic.

- In connection with the pandemic, we provided care that could be delayed and we also reduced the number of care places for other care.

Then we did not need as many hired nurses, says Liselotte Sjökvist, area manager region Västmanland.

Appreciated by patients

The fact that the number of rental staff is decreasing is something that the patients that SVT spoke to appreciate.

- You want the same doctor and preferably nurses as well, says Monica Thell from Västerås.
