The tragedy of the child Adnan, who was kidnapped, raped and killed by a harasser and rapist (Bedouville), renewed the debate in Morocco over the application of the death penalty.

On the practical level, Morocco has not abolished the death penalty from its penal code yet, but the authorities have not implemented this ruling since 1993, meaning that the last time was 27 years ago, and this matter is seen by human rights activists as a gain, because it paves the way for permanently abolishing this punishment. .

But those who support the retention of the death penalty argue that this ruling achieves a kind of deterrence, meaning that it makes anyone fear involvement in a crime that leads to death, and this ruling narrates the victim’s family, according to them, because the convicted person will not continue life, so he eats and drinks And he benefits from health coverage at the expense of the taxpayer.

In light of these two views, other questions arise in Morocco about whether maintaining this punishment is truly effective in reducing incidents of sexual assault against children, or rape in general.

This discussion turned into a "chatter" on social platforms.

On the other hand, the issue of the kidnapping of the child Adnan and the brutal assault on him met widespread public condemnation in Tangiers in particular and Morocco in general, where many social media pioneers demanded maximum penalties for the perpetrator.

Most Moroccans have united on Facebook by expressing their deep affection and solidarity with the victim's family, but what also alone is their demand for the implementation of the death penalty suspended since the 1990s in the Kingdom.

The heinous crime not only shocked Moroccans, it also shocked social media users from outside Morocco.

The judicial police in Tangiers, Morocco, arrested, last week, a person who committed the felony of premeditated murder in connection with the indecent assault of a minor.

A communiqué by the General Directorate of National Security in Morocco stated that the security forces in the Beni Makada region of Tangiers had received a report last Monday to discuss the disappearance of the 11-year-old child, Adnan Bouchouf.

He added, "It became clear later that the matter was related to a disappearance with a criminal background, especially after video recordings were recorded indicating that a person might be involved in luring the victim near the place of residence of his family."

The same source confirmed that the search and diagnostic operations undertaken by the Judicial Police, supported by the General Directorate of Forces, had resulted in the identification of the suspect, who resides not far from the victim's residence, before he was arrested and directed to the place to dispose of the victim's body.

The preliminary data of the research indicate that the accused proceeded to lure the victim to an apartment in the same neighborhood and sexually assaulted him before he was deliberately killed on the same day and during the time of the induction, and then intentionally bury the body in his vicinity of residence in a tropical region.

The family of the child, Adnan Bouchouf, had sent an appeal to all Tangiers to help find their disappeared son, before finding him dead.
