The muzzle is an excellent way to reduce the risk of infection with the new Corona virus, and it must be adhered to wear according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health in your country and international medical institutions, but it may have some annoying effects, we know it here, and how do we deal with it?

We emphasize here that this talk is not to reduce the importance of the muzzle, as you must wear it, but we will give you some advice to reduce some of its effects that may be annoying.

In this report - which was published by the French newspaper "Le Figaro" - Louise Genias said that it cannot be questioned the effectiveness of wearing a mask in avoiding infection with the Coronavirus, but health professionals have indicated some effects, such as:

1- Blisters and itching

Wearing a muzzle for a long time puts pressure on the skin and prevents it from breathing.

"The irritation, itching and bacterial proliferation due to the moist heat from breathing are all consequences of this new habit that we have adopted today," says Gauthier Duat, a physician at the Ducray Medical Department.

"Certain areas in particular, under the eyes, nose, chin and back of the ears are exposed to irritation due to prolonged wearing of the muzzle." Moreover, diseases such as acne or eczema can be exacerbated, without ignoring that stress and anxiety related to the situation also play a clear role.

The solution

The doctor recommends that you change the mask after a maximum of 4 hours, which gives the face a chance to breathe, and he mentions that cotton masks are best for sensitive skin.

2- Dry eyes

Some people experience eye discomfort from the first use of a muzzle.

In this regard, Damien Gatinel, an ophthalmologist and head of the department at Rothschild Hospital in Paris, explained that the mask causes the eyes to dry out because the exhalation of air rises upwards, and causes a regular flow of air towards the eye.

These dehydration conditions mainly affect people who already have a tendency to dry eyes, such as contact lens wearers, Gatnell added, and the mask can also be responsible for secondary damage such as contact allergies around the eyes or bacterial infections.

Besides, some practices, such as putting a mask in a pocket, touching it, and then re-wearing it, facilitate the emergence of germs, and open a portal for infections such as conjunctivitis, for example.

The solution

Gatlin recommends instilling artificial tears into the eyes several times daily, in order to reduce the feeling of dryness.

3- Frequent headaches

Neurologist Dominic Vallad notes that wearing a mask can cause tension headaches, as a result of wearing it for long periods, and the mask puts pressure on the face, which creates tension that causes headaches.

And for those who are already prone to migraines, these tensions can cause more of it.

The solution

If you have migraines, stick to your treatment and give yourself a chance to relax.
