The central question of this trial promises arid debates: from 2010 to 2018, did Nissan and Greg Kelly knowingly omit to mention in the stock market reports a remuneration of 73 million euros that

Carlos Ghosn

was supposed to receive later?

An omission that would be illegal.

“Yes,” says Nissan, who according to several AFP sources will plead guilty.

“No”, assures the contrary Greg Kelly who has been claiming his innocence for almost two years when

he was arrested at the same time

as Carlos Ghosn.

10 years in prison ...

But this American lawyer who is celebrating his 64th birthday on the day the trial opens is the only natural person to be tried in this part of

the sprawling Ghosn case

.

A long-term trial which should last about 10 months.

It must be said that the investigators have amassed an astronomical sum of documents.

But Greg Kelly's defense complains that they only had access to a fraction of these parts.

His lawyer also deplores that foreign witnesses will not come to Tokyo for fear of the Japanese judicial system.

However, the prosecution and the court refused to be heard by videoconference.

Greg Kelly faces up to 10 years in prison.
