While the city of Bordeaux faces a rise in delinquency, the municipality and the prefecture are mobilizing.

"We found that we had a staff shortage in the municipal police, we are doing everything to fill it", explains Amine Smihi, deputy mayor of Bordeaux in charge of security.

Among the metropolises affected by the upsurge in violence and incivility, Bordeaux is in the foreground.

The "sleeping beauty", usually peaceful, has experienced a 40% increase in delinquency compared to last summer.

Attacks, sometimes with a knife, or other snatching thefts have increased.

"We found that we had a staff shortage in the municipal police, we are doing everything to fill it", explains Amine Smihi, deputy mayor of Bordeaux in charge of security.

"We note that the national police system is no longer up to the level of the metropolis that Bordeaux has become. We hope that Gérald Darmanin takes this into account," continues the security assistant.

Another wish expressed to the Minister of the Interior: the permanent installation of a CRS company in the Bordeaux metropolis.

During his back-to-school conference, EELV mayor Pierre Hurmic also announced the recruitment of police officers for the canine brigade, mountain biking and the deployment in the city center of an equestrian bridle. 

More surveillance cameras? 

A strengthening of the workforce of the police supported by the prefect of Gironde, Fabienne Buccio, who also pleads for the installation of more cameras in the city center of the Gironde city.

A subject of contention between the municipality and the prefecture.

"The mayor has validated the installations decided by his predecessor, but we need cameras," she explains.

Indeed, Nicolas Florian (mayor Les Républicains, successor of Alain Juppé) had already recorded the installation of 17 cameras.

"It helps justice to establish the facts and we it helps us, when we see someone doing an act and we can apprehend him thanks to the images, behind he will not do it again", continues Fabienne Buccio.

This is not all but it is a set of things. "All the more so since the State helps to finance these surveillance systems.
