Jean Castex asked the prefects of Bouches-du-Rhône and Gironde on Friday to present him with measures to fight against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, which is particularly rapid in these two departments.

For local players, it's a busy weekend.

How to stop the spread of the coronavirus?

Should we close bars or restaurants earlier?

Prohibit certain groupings?

The prefects of Bouches-du-Rhône and Gironde were summoned on Friday by Prime Minister Jean Castex to report to the government by Monday measures to deal with the deterioration of the situation.

So in the prefectures, discussions with local players are very numerous this weekend.

Because time is running out.

Decisions taken as close as possible to the field

"It's nice to learn on Friday evening that we must have a battle plan for Monday," quips an actor in the file.

The prefects will continue meetings on Saturday and Sunday with the health authorities, but also with the mayors of Bordeaux and Marseille, as the government wishes, which wants decisions to be taken as close as possible to the field.

The prefects have a framework of action defined by law.

They can thus limit travel within a radius of 100 kilometers, completely or partially close bars, restaurants, libraries, gymnasiums or even museums, or even ban markets.

These measurements can be very precise but also very restrictive.

It will therefore be up to the prefects to assume these decisions.
