The alert was given in early September in a nursing home in Aveyron, which had several positive cases.

Since then, five residents have died and 48 have tested positive for the coronavirus, as have 20 employees.

All residents are confined to their rooms, says the ARS.

A call for solidarity launched with other nursing homes

"A fifth resident died during the night after already a death on Saturday morning" at the nursing home of Sévérac-d'Aveyron about forty kilometers east of Rodez, told AFP Benjamin Ramel of the Agency regional health, stressing that a call for solidarity was launched to "help staff".

The alert was given in this nursing home on September 4 with the detection of several positive cases in residents and an employee which had triggered a generalized campaign of tests in the establishment.

"The management of the establishment and the ARS have launched an appeal for solidarity with other nursing homes in the Aveyron to obtain reinforcements, in particular nursing assistants," he added.

From the start of the weekend, the nursing home received reinforcement from Civil Protection personnel and a nurse.

"These reinforcements make it possible to help in particular for night surveillance," said the representative of the ARS.

Families from the town have also mobilized to help, in particular "during meal times".

"All residents are confined to their rooms and close monitoring of the evolution of their state of health is operated by the nursing and service staff," the ARS indicated in a press release on Saturday.
