"Community Development" launches a hotline to protect and support elderly people in Dubai

The Community Development Authority in Dubai announced the launch of the hotline for the protection and support of elderly citizens and residents in the Emirate of Dubai, within the framework of completing the protection system stipulated in the policy of the elderly in the emirate and entrusting its responsibility to the authority and with the aim of providing an integrated database that allows the development of programs and services in cooperation with Government and private agencies to improve the quality of life of the elderly and ensure their safety.

The hotline 800988 receives the calls of the elderly or their caregivers around the clock in both Arabic and English languages, including requests for support and inquiries related to services, whether health, legal or social.

The hotline also receives reports of violations and requests for protection, and specialists in the field of care and protection of the elderly supervise to deal with inquiries and reports so that the intervention and provide support and assistance without delay when necessary in cooperation with the concerned authorities.

This comes within the framework of the authority's efforts to provide direct and easy communication channels for customers, especially the most vulnerable groups, such as children, people of determination, and the elderly, which enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the protection system and facilitate intervention in the event of their exposure to danger.

The authority had launched, since the emergence during the Corona pandemic, a database project for elderly citizens and residents within the framework of the "We Communicate and Protect" initiative, through which their social and health data and places of residence were collected and their needs identified, which provided a broader picture of the procedures and programs that must be adopted to complete the system Protection and care.

The Executive Director of the Development and Social Care Sector at the Community Development Authority, Hariz Al-Murr Bin Hariz, said: “The leadership has given special priority to the elderly, and last May the Executive Council of the Dubai government adopted a special policy to empower senior citizens and enhance society's benefit from their experiences, protection and community participation for senior citizens and adults.
