Antonov's statement was published on the Facebook page of the Russian diplomatic mission.

“We are concerned about such a decision by the American authorities,” the ambassador replied to a request to comment on information about Yaroshenko's transfer to another correctional institution.

He noted that the embassy "does not know the name, type and regime of the prison to which they plan to transfer" Yaroshenko.

“Taking into account the chronic diseases that Yaroshenko has, we believe that changing the place of serving his sentence may negatively affect his physical and psychological state of health. In this regard, in connection with the appeal of the relatives of the Russian, a corresponding note was sent to the US State Department with a request not to change the place of detention of K.V.

Yaroshenko, "Antonov said.

Earlier, Yaroshenko's lawyer Alexei Tarasov said that the Russians were planning to be transferred to a private prison.

In 2011, a US court sentenced Yaroshenko to 20 years in prison on charges of conspiracy to smuggle drugs.
