Muhammad Makhlouf (Abu Rami), the uncle of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, died in Al-Assad University Hospital in Damascus after suffering with the Corona virus.

The Makhlouf family named its mayor Muhammad, the father of the well-known businessman Rami, who until months ago was the most powerful and prominent businessman in Syria.

Muhammad is the brother of Anisa Makhlouf, the wife of the late President Hafez al-Assad and the mother of the current president, and he held a number of positions during his life, including his management of the most important economic institutions in the country, as he was the director of the Tobacco Corporation, and after that he was the director of the real estate bank.
