Walking football is exactly what it sounds like, a form of exercise for you who want to go and play football.

The rules are simple: You must not run or tackle.

The ball must not be shot higher than two meters and it is forbidden to jump and nod.

On the pitch, everyone is 60-plus.

- Due to the pandemic, there is unfortunately limited participation.

But we have teams from both Stockholm and Skåne that line up, says Stefan Lodén who is one of the organizers.

The sport is growing

Walking football is played all over the world and is especially big in England with close to a thousand clubs.

In Sweden, the sport is growing.

- Walking football started in Sweden around 2018 and now we have about 20 active teams.

Mostly around Stockholm and in Skåne, but also now here in Ljungby, which is fantastic, says Peter Lundgren who is the national captain of the five Swedish national teams.

World Cup in Barcelona

Both the European and World Cup football championships are played, however, the European Championships in Wales were forced to be canceled due to the pandemic.

One who should have been there was 79-year-old Ljungby player Kenneth "Kilo" Gustavsson.

Two years ago, he restarted his football career, which was paused in 1978.

- The grandchildren do not think it is wise for me to play in a national team.

Next year is the World Cup in Barcelona.

There is nothing that can beat something like that, says Kenneth Gustavsson.

The winner of the tournament was Vellinge IF who won the final after penalties against Söder's friends from Stockholm.

Ljungby's two teams finished third and fourth.
