A wildfire in Oregon appears to have started as arson, with large wildfires hitting the west coast of the United States.



Daily The New York Times reported that Michael Jared Bakela, 41, was charged with arson in a fire in Phoenix, southern Oregon.



According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office in Jackson County, Oregon, the'Alarmor Fire' that started in Ashland on the morning of the 8th has since spread north along the highway.



That afternoon, a resident report was filed in Phoenix, north of Ashland, that a man had set a fire.



Police dispatched found Bakela at the scene and arrested him for violating parole.



Bakela denied arson charges, but the Jackson County Attorney accused Bakela of arson and inadvertent risk.



The Alameder fire is believed to have hit several villages in southern Oregon, destroying 500 homes and 100 commercial facilities.
