A hat-trick from Mohamed Salah, including two penalty goals, allowed defending champions Liverpool to avoid an embarrassing underperformance against promoted Leeds, who sold their skin dearly, on the Premier League's opening day .

Leeds, led by iconic Marcelo Bielsa, managed to come back three times taking advantage of the defensive largesse of the Reds, but the Reds snatched the victory two minutes from the end of regulation time, in a scenario already often conceded by the last season.
