  The Taiwan Compatriot Permit is a legal travel document issued to Taiwan residents to travel to and from the mainland. With this permit, they can enter and leave the mainland and stay in the mainland legally.

Since its launch in May 1992, the Taiwan compatriot card has undergone three upgrades and revisions, and the anti-counterfeiting performance and social application level of the certificate have been continuously improved. As of 2019, more than 23 million copies have been issued to more than 11.6 million Taiwan compatriots.

Currently, the Taiwan compatriot card has been widely used in various fields of social life.

  In order to facilitate cross-strait travel between Taiwan and Taiwan, the exit and entry management department of the public security organs has completely cancelled the endorsement policy for Taiwan compatriots from July 1, 2015. Taiwan compatriots can travel to and stay in the mainland with a valid Taiwan compatriot certificate.

The new version of the electronic Taiwan compatriot card is designed and produced with mature technology and technology, and provides more convenient and efficient entry and exit services for Taiwan compatriots with the help of information technology.

According to statistics, from 2015 to 2019, a total of 29.37 million Taiwan residents came to the mainland. On average, nearly 350,000 Taiwanese residents travel, work, study and live in the mainland every day.

  For more than 30 years, the entry and exit documents for Taiwan compatriots to and from the mainland have changed from a certificate to a document to a card, carrying a common historical memory, realizing the dream of returning home to the Taiwan compatriots, and also witnessing the blood relationship of the family on both sides of the strait. .
