The Government rules out reformulating the decree on municipal financing to seek greater consensus after its defeat yesterday.

This was stated on Thursday in the first place by the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero;

and now it has been confirmed by the president of the PSOE Federal Policy Council and Extremadura leader, Guillermo Fernández Vara.

The regional leader has added that the Executive will try to recover some of the aspects of the decree that Congress rejected this Thursday with a new law.

And he has cited as an example the next draft of the General State Budgets.

The PSOE today held its Federal Policy Council in which this regulation was discussed, as well as the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Fernández Vara has reproached the PP and other groups that have prevented the approval of the decree in Congress and are now asking for another to dispose of the resources that they themselves have blocked.

"You have to be aware and consistent with what you vote," he said in a telematic press conference from the PSOE headquarters, "what you can't do is vote the opposite of what you think is best and now pretend that you don't have consequences".

The Extremaduran president has added that the decree that was voted had been agreed between the Government and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), not with the entire FEMP, he pointed out, but with the majority of it.

Therefore, he concluded, "what is not possible is to change the decree laws every week."
