"The vaccine supply to Brazil is expected to begin in November 2020, subject to approval from the Brazilian government regulatory authorities, which will take into account the results of a post-marketing vaccine study," the foundation said.

The agreement will also allow in the future to supply the Russian vaccine throughout Brazil.

According to the RDIF, the agreement emphasizes that many countries recognize the importance of having a drug based on human adenoviral vectors in the coronavirus vaccine portfolio, which is a well-researched vaccine platform.

Its safety has been confirmed through decades of research, including 75 publications in international scientific journals and over 250 clinical studies.

Earlier, the head of the RDIF, Kirill Dmitriev, said that up to 100 million doses of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine would be delivered to Latin America.
