The suspect has run from the scene after the shooting and is now wanted by several police units.
An ambulance is on site to take care of the gunshot wounded man.
- We received information about shootings in central Borås and witnesses have seen a masked man run from there.
We currently have a large effort in Borås where several units are applying in full, says Peter Adlersson, press spokesperson for the police in the West.
Unclear damage situation
According to Adlersson, it has been possible to speak briefly with the shot man before he was taken to hospital.
But how seriously injured he is is still unclear.
The alarm about the shooting came in to the police just before half past four on Friday.
The site is cordoned off for technical investigation and a preliminary investigation into attempted murder has been initiated.
Four men arrested
Just before 6 pm, four men suspected of being involved in the shooting of a car were arrested in a parking garage in central Borås, near the crime scene.
Men are in their 20s and 30s.
The car has been seized for technical investigation, the police write on their website.
- We suspect that one of them fired the shot.
We will investigate more who did what, but everyone is suspected of involvement, says Peter Adlersson.
The shooting must have taken place on Stengärdsgatan in central Borås.
