11 September 2020Several commemorations in the USA in memory of 09/11/2001, the day on which three terrorist attacks of Islamic origin forever marked the United States and the rest of the world.

Attacks that are considered the most serious in the history of the stars and stripes country.

The victims were 2996 including 19 hijackers and 350 firefighters.

19 years later in full pandemic, three places where the commemoration is organized: New York, the Pentagon and a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where one of the four planes hijacked by Al-Qaeda crashed after the heroic intervention of the 40 passengers prevented it from crashing on Capitol Hill, Washington.

Donald Trump and Joe Biden will not cross paths when they both pay tribute to the 9/11 victims at the Shanksville Memorial.

The dem presidential candidate is present in New York where a minute of silence was observed at Ground Zero on the occasion of the attack on the first of the two Twin Towers, exactly when American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower at 08.46 of that tragic morning.

The ceremony is restricted to the relatives of the victims due to the pandemic.

Joe Biden and his wife Jill will go to Shanksville in the afternoon where President Trump and First Lady Melania are headed instead.

The presidential couple respected a moment of silence aboard Air Force One when in 2001 the first plane hit the World Trade Center, home to the Twin Towers which collapsed in seconds due to the impact of the hijacked Boings.

Some reporters on board were invited to join the commemoration in the plane's conference room, standing together.

Trump is bound for Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where he will speak at the annual rendezvous on the site where the hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 crashed into a field, killing everyone on board.

Vice President Mike Pence and wife Karen will also take part in the celebrations of the Big Apple.

Vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris and husband Douglas will attend a ceremony in Fairfax, Virginia.
