Patrik Jemteborn from the Biathlon Association believes that it is important that the government meets them so that Sweden can keep the competitions.

Otherwise, a major financial loss awaits.

- Then I think you have to make another decision to financially compensate both the sports movement, in this case biathlon, and secondarily the destination Östersund, he says.

In the clip, Patrik Jemteborn tells how it is intended that the competitions can be carried out in an infectious manner.

It is unclear when information from the government on whether the request will be granted or not will come, but the Biathlon Federation hopes that a dialogue will be underway next week.

The municipality appeals to the government

The chairman of the municipal board, Bosse Svensson (C), and the municipal director Anders Wennerberg have also written letters to the government and appealed for an exemption from the temporary entry ban.

The letter states that the direct economic effects of a World Cup in biathlon amount to approximately SEK 35-40 million for Östersund.

- We want to do everything we can to secure this World Cup week, says Bosse Svensson to SVT Jämtland.
