Tikhanovskaya supported EU plans to impose sanctions against Belarus

“We, of course, welcome the sanctions,” RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.

At the same time, Tikhanovskaya noted that the decision to impose sanctions is "the prerogative of each country."

Earlier, Tikhanovskaya, in her address to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), called for international pressure on the authorities of Belarus.

Czech Foreign Minister Tomas Petřicek said that EU sanctions against representatives of the Belarusian authorities will come into force no later than September 21.

At the same time, the media reported that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko would not be included in the EU sanctions list.
