On September 10, local time, the Council of Europe decided to extend sanctions against individuals and entities that continue to undermine or threaten Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence for another six months, until March 15, 2021.

Existing sanctions include travel restrictions, freezing of assets, etc., and will continue to apply to 175 people and 44 entities.

On March 17, 2014, the EU adopted sanctions for the first time against individuals or groups that undermined or threatened Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence.

In June of this year, the European Union extended its economic sanctions against Russia until January 31, 2021, on the grounds that the ceasefire agreement in Ukraine has not been fully implemented.

At present, the EU's economic sanctions on Russia are mainly aimed at the fields of finance, defense, and energy.

In addition, the EU sanctions against Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol will continue until June 23, 2021.

Earlier, Montenegro, Albania, Norway, Iceland, Ukraine and Georgia announced that they would join the sanctions.
