"During the trip, meetings were held with the leadership of the Defense Ministry, military justice authorities of the Syrian side, as well as familiarization with the organization of the functioning of the Russian aviation group," the statement said.
Petrov's working visit took place from 8 to 9 September on the instructions of the Prosecutor General of Russia Igor Krasnov.
On September 7, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visited Damascus and met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Foreign Minister Walid Muallem.
