31% decrease in traffic accidents on the first day of school

The General Traffic Department in Dubai Police recorded on the first day of school a decrease in the number of injured due to traffic accidents by 66.6%, and a decrease in traffic accidents by 31%, compared to the same day last year.

The Dubai Police General Command praised the interaction of members of the public with its campaign "A Day Without Accidents", which aims to be the first day of the new school year without traffic accidents.

The administration did not record any deaths during the first school day in Dubai, while the number of beneficiaries of the campaign reached 401,840 people.

Acting Director of the Department, Colonel Jumah bin Suwaidan, said that the campaign, which bears the slogan "Together to make Dubai's streets safer," has achieved its goals in increasing traffic awareness, pointing out that it focused on two parts, the first is traffic, and the second is health related to educating school bus drivers, supervisors and students. For his part, the director of the Security Awareness Department at the General Administration of Community Happiness, Butti Ahmed bin Darwish Al Falasi, said that the campaign succeeded in achieving awareness through social media with a rate of 100,000 views and zero deaths.
