According to RIA Novosti, referring to the data of the American department, the fine was imposed due to a series of violations.

It is noted that, for example, one violation is related to the conduct of operations for the purchase of fuel oil.

A sanctioned company was involved in this trade process.

Another episode, mentioned in the ministry's message, is a series of transactions carried out in the interests of the Krasnodar Regional Investment Bank, which is under sanctions.

The Ministry of Finance noted that the company agreed to pay the imposed fine.

Earlier, the EU extended the sanctions that were imposed in connection with the reunification of Crimea with Russia.

Crimea became a Russian region after a referendum held there in March 2014, in which most residents voted in favor of reunification with Russia.
