A spokesman for Omar Allah Saleh, the Afghan Vice President, said that a bomb exploded this morning on the side of a road in the Taimani district of the capital, Kabul, targeting Saleh, but he survived and was unhurt.

In the bombing, two people were killed and ten others were wounded.

"Today, the enemies of Afghanistan tried once again to harm Saleh, but they failed to reach their sinister goal, and Saleh escaped unscathed," Radwan Murad, a spokesman for Saleh's office, wrote on Facebook.

Saleh's spokesman also reported that some guards of the vice president's convoy were injured.

An aide to Saleh - who refused to reveal his name - said that a suicide bomber targeted the convoy of the Vice President as he left his home on his way to work.

In a preliminary toll, Ministry of Health officials said that two bodies and 7 wounded have been transferred to hospital so far.
