Thirty-eight years after the rue des Rosiers bombing in Paris, which left six dead and 22 injured, Norway has arrested a man suspected of being one of the perpetrators, Norwegian police said , this Wednesday

France has been asking for several years the extradition of Walid Abdulrahman Abou Zayed, established in Norway since 1991, who has in the past denied any involvement in the attack attributed to the Palestinian group Fatah-Revolutionary Council (Fatah-CR) from " Abu Nidal ”.

An arrest warrant issued by France

On August 9, 1982, an attack perpetrated with grenades and submachine guns against the restaurant Jo Goldenberg, located rue des Rosiers in Paris, run by a figure of the Parisian Jewish community, left six dead and twenty-two wounded.

Without providing the identity of the suspect, the Norwegian counterterrorism police (PST) said they made an arrest on Wednesday in connection with the case.

“We can confirm that PST arrested a man in Skien (southern Norway) today (…) on a European arrest warrant issued by French authorities,” said PST spokesperson Annett Aamodt .

" There is some mistake about this person "

"An extradition request has been issued by the French authorities, it will be examined carefully to see if the conditions are met," she added.

The man in his sixties, now naturalized Norwegian, denies his involvement, saying that "there is a mistake about the person".

“My husband has never killed anyone.

He has never been in France, ”his wife said in 2015 in reaction to an international arrest warrant issued by France which Norway had not followed up on at the time.
