09 September 2020At least 10 people were killed and numerous others were injured in a bomb attack that took place this morning in the center of Kabul that targeted the convoy of Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh, who was almost unharmed.

Local authorities report it.

According to one of Saleh's collaborators, a bomb was detonated as the convoy that had left Saleh's house headed for the office passed.

At least 10 victims were found on the spot.

Among the victims there would be at least two guards from the manager's escort, who at the time of the explosion was in a car with his son, who was also practically unharmed.

The explosion would later generate a fire nearby.

In a video posted on Facebook, the vice president, who appears with his left hand bandaged, said he was fine and had only minor burns to his face.

The budget was reported by the spokesman for the ministry of health, Akmal Samsur.

The vice president, who often openly criticized the Taliban, had already survived an attack that took place last year, just before the presidential elections, in which 20 people died and another 50 were injured.

The attack comes just days before the expected peace talks between the Kabul government and the Taliban leaders, which will take place in Doha, Qatar.

Despite the agreements reached between the Taliban and the United States, the United Nations mission in the country nevertheless recorded varying levels of violence in the first half of the year, which caused 3,458 civilian victims (1,282 dead and another 2,176 wounded).
