Ten men and two women applied,
including outgoing president Alpha Condé
and his main opponent since 2010, Cellou Dalein Diallo.
Alpha Condé is a candidate for a third term, while
Cellou Dalein Diallo is trying for the third time to conquer the supreme office
.
They remain the two big favorites.
Besides these two heavyweights, there are those who are able to disturb the sleep of the contenders.
Ousmane Kaba hunts on the same land as Alpha Condé
- and in recent years his party has made huge strides in establishing itself in the region.
Abdoul Kabélé Camara, former president of the bar and several times minister, is from Coyah, on the outskirts of Conakry.
There is also Abdoulaye Abé Sylla, who is on his second try.
The two ladies, Makalé Sylla and Makalé Traoré, both former ministers, are in the race.
The other five - Moro Mandjouf Sidibé from the AFC, Bouya Konaté from the UDIR, Laye Souleymane Diallo from the PLP, Edouard Zoutomou Kpoghomou from the UDRP and Ousmane Doré from the MND - are all novices.
The submission of applications closed, the list of successful candidates will be known on Wednesday.
