The French president is hosting a summit of southern European Union countries this Thursday evening in Corsica and receives seven Greek, Cypriot, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Maltese leaders.

On the menu, several thorny issues, including relations with the tensions with Turkey and the migration issue.

Before this diplomatic meeting, Emmanuel Macron, arrived on Wednesday on the Isle of Beauty, was expected by the Corsicans on economic and political issues.

It was with a commemoration of the liberation of Ajaccio in September 1943 that Emmanuel Macron began his visit, the third since the start of his mandate.

A wreath laying but not a word from the President of the Republic for the Corsican resistance.

Another symbol, for some elected officials, of the head of state's contempt for

nationalist

ideas, majority ideas in local authorities.

If the president of the Corsican Assembly, the independentist Jean-Guy Talamoni, refused the invitation to a Republican dinner on Wednesday evening, the autonomist Gilles Simeoni accepted him the tête-à-tête proposed Thursday morning by the chief of State.

Half an hour to try to open a dialogue so far sterile, hopes the chairman of the executive board.

Emmanuel Macron is expected on political issues, therefore, but also economic.

Because Corsica has suffered heavily from the health crisis.

In particular tourism, a key sector for the island.

Emmanuel Macron will also talk about recovery and tourism this Thursday morning in Bonifacio, a city run by a walker, which makes some elected officials say that Emmanuel Macron is here in the countryside, a few months from the regional ones.
