Norwegian police arrested one of the suspects in the rue des Rosiers attack in Paris.

This is what we learn from our lawyer.

The attack left six dead and 22 wounded in Paris in 1982. France has been asking for the extradition of four suspects since 2015.

Norwegian anti-terrorist police have not released his name, but they confirm the arrest of a suspect subject to an arrest warrant issued by France.

It could be Walid Abdulraham Abou Zayed, who has lived in Norway for 20 years, a country from which he acquired nationality.

The man is suspected of having participated in the 1982 attack on rue des Rosiers attributed to the Palestinian group

Abou Nidal

, which he has always denied.

France issued an arrest warrant against him in 2015, but Norway did not follow through at the time.

Three other suspects

, believed to be living in

Jordan

and the West Bank, are also wanted.

On August 9, 1982, an armed group spread terror in rue des Rosiers, in a Jewish quarter of Paris, shooting at restaurant customers and then at passers-by.

Results: 6 dead and 22 injured.

The affair had traumatized France.

The

families of the victims have been awaiting trial for

almost 40 years

.

But on this subject David Père, lawyer of the civil parties, is cautiously optimistic.

This little joy is mixed with concern because we have seen in the past [...] that the arrested suspect has been released and has not been extradited.

The civil parties pay tribute to the work of the examining magistrates who have succeeded one another but remain very vigilant about the future because this first procedural step is only a first step.

As long as there is no extradition, there will be no trial and therefore for the moment this remains insufficient.
