A bomb attack targeted Afghan First Vice President Amrullah Saleh's convoy in central Kabul on Wednesday morning.

The enemies of Afghanistan tried again to target First Vice President Amrullah Saleh this morning,

 " said Razwan Murad, head of Amrullah Saleh's press service, adding: "

 the terrorist attack failed and Saleh and safe and sound 

”.

This attack, however, left at least two dead and twelve injured, according to Interior Ministry spokesman Tareq Arian.

According to an employee of the vice-president, who spoke to Agence France-Presse (AFP) on condition of anonymity, a suicide bomber blew himself up near the convoy as the Afghan vice-president walked to his office.

Already targeted by an attack in 2019

Known for his hostile positions against the Taliban,

Saleh had already escaped an assassination attempt

last summer during the presidential campaign, when a suicide bomber and gunmen attacked his offices.

The attack had left 20 dead and fifty wounded.

Peace talks are due to start soon in Qatar between Afghan negotiators and the Taliban.
