The Zayed Sustainability Prize, the leading global award launched by the UAE to honor innovative sustainability solutions, has announced the postponement of its annual awards ceremony for the 2021 session, which was scheduled to be held next January within the activities of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. Applications for participation in the 2021 round of the award will be automatically transferred to participate in 2022 cycle.
This decision came in the interest of the award team for the safety of the participants in the ceremony from various countries of the world, in light of the challenges caused by the Coronavirus pandemic and in view of the travel restrictions imposed by most countries in light of measures to limit the spread of the virus.
Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Director General of the Zayed Sustainability Prize, confirmed that the decision to postpone the ceremony for the next session of the award came after careful consideration, taking into account all the requests submitted during this year and considering them as automatic participation in the 2022 session.
Al-Jaber said: "In line with the wise leadership directives and perpetuating the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Zayed Sustainability Prize continues its role in promoting humanitarian efforts and achieving sustainable development goals, since it has contributed, since its establishment, to have a positive impact on the lives of more than 335 million people."
