“The recent arrests, repeated use of force against peaceful protesters, as well as reports of pressure on opposition activists, cause very serious concern for us and the Secretary General,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

As Dujarrick noted, the Belarusian people “should have the opportunity to exercise their political and constitutional rights peacefully, in a democratic atmosphere”.

According to him, the situation should be resolved through an inclusive dialogue between Belarusians.

Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, in an interview with RT and other Russian media, commented on the situation with the detention of a member of the coordination council of the opposition Maria Kolesnikova.
