Swedish IS women and their children have recently fled to Turkey.

The women have been in various prison camps in Kurdish-controlled areas in northeastern Syria, which the newspaper Expressen was the first to report on.

According to information to SVT, these are at least two Swedish women who are linked to the terrorist group IS.

The women must be detained in Turkish custody with their children.

Sources tell SVT that the women have been smuggled out of northwestern Syria where they were in prison camps for IS supporters in the Kurdish-controlled areas.

Swedish authorities are aware of the case and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs confirms that they are aware of the information but do not want to go into specific cases.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Knows the information

The Foreign Ministry's press service writes in an email to SVT:

"We know that there are reports that a few women and accompanying children are in the Syrian-Turkish border areas.

We are following this. "

“A number of people have returned to Sweden in recent years after being in Syria.

Swedish authorities, including the police and social services, are well prepared to respond to these individuals upon return.

We currently have no further information to provide. ”

Several in concentration camps

At the beginning of the summer, SVT was able to tell about a Swedish IS woman who managed to leave the infamous al-Hol camp in Syria and is now in the Gothenburg region, according to information to SVT.

The woman from western Sweden is in her 30s and traveled to Syria in 2013.

SVT has previously reported that Swedish women and children with links to IS have been smuggled out of Syrian camps for IS prisoners.
