It is noted that on September 8, Russian airspace control systems detected an air target approaching the Russian state border over the neutral waters of the Barents Sea.

It is reported that a MiG-29 fighter from the air defense forces of the Northern Fleet was lifted into the air to identify the target.

The center reported that the crew of the Russian fighter identified the air target as a Norion Air Force P-3C Orion patrol aircraft and escorted it over the Barents Sea.

"The entire flight of the Russian MiG-29 fighter was carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace," RIA Novosti reports.

The center added that no violations of the Russian state border were allowed.

On September 7, it was reported that the MiG-29 of the Northern Fleet flew for the second time in a day to intercept a reconnaissance aircraft of the British Air Force over the neutral waters of the Barents Sea.
