California bush fires have consumed two million acres so far

California bushfires have consumed more than 2 million acres so far this year.

About 14,000 firefighters are fighting the fires, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said Monday.

The fires destroyed more than 3,300 buildings, and eight people were killed.

California is currently experiencing one of its worst wildfire seasons on record, and last month saw unprecedented fires across the state, partly due to rising temperatures and aging electricity infrastructure.

On Sunday, parts of the state were exposed to record temperatures.

Gov. Gavin Newsom urged state residents to reduce energy use to avoid power outages.
