Someone or someone is carrying out the recurring sabotages against Kustpilen by placing objects on the tracks - including a pile of macadam, an electric bicycle and an iron pipe wedged into railway sleepers.

In the past, someone has also thrown stones at the train.

The iron pipe caused major damage to the train's diesel tank and 850 liters of diesel began to run out.

- The rescue service managed to get 400 liters, the rest ended up in nature, says Marie-Louise Arnell, business manager at Transdev who runs Kustpilen.

Recently, the events have become more frequent, especially in the community Södra Vi in Vimmerby municipality.

So far, there have been eight cases of sabotage, six of which have been in the last two weeks, according to Marie-Louse Arnell.

"Very serious"

- I take this very seriously.

First and foremost for my staff, with stones and larger objects there is a risk of derailment.

She also points to the risk that the objects will set off at high speed and hit someone, not least the saboteurs themselves.

Have you received any threats or anything else that shows why someone does so?

- No, but at some point the driver has seen young people running from the rails.

We suspect that it is younger people who do not think about the consequences.

Marie-Louise Arnell says that they have previously had problems with sabotage in Sturefors outside Linköping.

After an information campaign in the schools, the problems stopped there.

Similar efforts will now be made at Astrid Lindgren's school in Vimmerby.
