  • Very busy and accident-prone, the RD 751 will continue its transformation.

  • Work that elicits various opinions, which can be expressed during a public consultation which will soon start.

The subject has been the subject of much ink for many years, and has aroused various opinions.

In a few days, the doubling of the traffic lanes of the Nantes-Pornic axis, the RD 751, will be the subject of public consultation, the Loire-Atlantique departmental council announced on Monday.

A consultation supervised by the public debate committee, usually reserved for larger projects, which will allow "to put all the questions on the table", promises the president (PS) Philippe Grosvalet.

This 40 km axis, which is particularly accident-prone and very busy, must entirely switch to 2x2 lanes by 2030, first of all for safety reasons.

But the issues of the environment, pollution, economic and agricultural activity or even soft travel must be addressed.

Online, in registers, during public meetings or workshops, everyone will be authorized to give their opinion on the future of the sections which are particularly debated: between Port-Saint-Père and Pont Béranger, then to Chaumes- en-Retz and its deviation, where the department hopes to be able to "artificialize as little as possible".

"Between Chaumes-en-Retz and Pornic, everything is open", assures the department, which will present different

scenarios

of routes as bases for dialogue.

The department will decide in 2021

Today, 13 km are already covered on 2x2 lanes, in particular between Bouguenais and Saint-Léger-les-Vignes.

After initial improvements, the doubling of the Port-Saint-Père diversion should begin shortly, with commissioning scheduled for 2024. For the rest of the portions, the consultation will take place from September 21 to November 3 .

The guarantors of the public debate will make their recommendations a month later.

The decisions of the departmental council should be known in February 2021.
