The head of the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea declared himself a presidential candidate on Sunday against the outgoing head of state.

Problem: the opposition called for a boycott of the ballot in the event of Alpha Condé's candidacy for a third term.

In addition, the presidential election in October is based on the new Constitution, also denounced by the opposition.

Cellou Dalein Diallo, leader of the opposition, hopes to restore constitutional order if elected as head of the country.

But "

with a truncated and tailor-made electoral file, a Ceni and a Constitutional Court totally subservient to Alpha Condé, the task will not be easy,

" admits the leader of the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea.

Conversely, several opposition voices say their incomprehension in the

face of this candidacy

.

This is the case of former Prime Minister Lansana Kouyaté or of Sydia Touré, the leader of the Union of Republican Forces.

Sidya Touré is not running for president: this opposition leader invokes questions of "

principle

", in memory, he says, "

of the Guineans who died during the demonstrations

", and to respect his commitment against the new Constitution.

For Sidya Touré, the candidacy of Cellou Dalein Diallo is a point of “

split

” within the opposition.

No official statement from the National Front for the Defense of the Constitution.

But for several days, the activists of this organization, which brings together opposition and civil society against

a third term of Alpha Condé

, have been clear on one point: any presidential candidate is automatically excluded from the FNDC.

This was already the case for Dr Ousmane Kaba and for Me Abdoul Kabélé Camara.

The FNDC meets in plenary on Wednesday, so we will know its position on the declared candidacy of Cellou Dalein Diallo, whose party is a mobilization engine for the FNDC.

In recent months, a large part of the demonstrations in the interior of the country were carried by the militants of the party of Cellou Dalein Diallo.
