The film shows how the musk ox walks at a leisurely pace inside a farm in Galhammar which is just outside Svenstavik.
It runs along a horse paddock and at one point it is even just a few meters from one of the farm buildings.
This is not the only observation made in recent days.
This weekend, another private person filmed the musk ox when it was inside a farm in Hoverberg which is only a few kilometers from Galhammar.
There it stood, among other things, perched on a suspended carpet.
Lost the herd in love hunt
The musk ox that showed up this summer is called Brutus.
He left his flock in 2018 to find a musk ox cow, says Hielke Chaudron at the myx ox center in Tännäs.
- It is rutting period now and then they will look for new flocks, he says.
But since Brutus' flock is the only one in all of Sweden, there is no partner for Brutus here, but he is unaware of that.
Due to a lack of company from other musk oxen, he has instead spent time with ordinary cows in the summers.
- He can be attracted to ordinary cows he passes that he thinks smell good, says Hielke Chaudron.
Normally, musk oxen on a love hunt return to the herd, but Hielke Chaudron believes that the fire smoke from the forest fires in 2018 meant that Brutus did not smell the herd and therefore he could not be reunited with them.
- Then watercourses and heavily trafficked hiking trails can mean that he has not been able to move as he wants.
Must return to the mountains
Soon, however, it's time for Brutus to end the hunt for a musk ox.
When winter comes, the musk oxen have to set their sights on high mountain terrain.
- They have too short legs and a heavy body to be in deep snow, so they need to get up on bare-blown mountains.
Hielke Chaudron believes that those who meet Brutus do not need to be afraid.
- If you meet a musk ox, you should leave them in peace and quiet.
If you get too close, there is a risk that they will be crowded and aggressive, then it is not good.
There is also a law that says that you should leave the musk oxen alone, according to it you must not be closer to a musk ox than 100 meters, provided it is not unconscious.
