It is a real ultimatum that the heads of state of ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States)

launched to the new Malian authorities in Bamako on September 7.

The time for coups d'état in the ECOWAS area is over,

" they say here in Niamey.

Unanimously by the heads of state, all the sanctions taken against the junta are maintained and - with a sledgehammer - the ECOWAS gives a one-week ultimatum to the military junta to appoint the president of the transition as well as its Prime Minister, all civilians.

Thus, the new strongman of Bamako has until September 15, 2020 to respond favorably to the demands of the ECOWAS.

One year for the transition

ECOWAS also maintains the one-year deadline for the transition.

According to the Nigerien Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kalla Ankourao, beyond this date, several international institutions risk leaving Mali, thus condemning the Malian people.

Regarding the inter-Malian meetings initiated by the military junta, the heads of state of ECOWAS say "

take note

 ".

For his part, the United Nations special envoy, Ibn Chambas, said that the UN supported the efforts of ECOWAS for the institutional stability of Mali and that the Minusma, the UN force supports the mediator in the Malian crisis. , Goodluck Jonathan.
