Assange's extradition hearing restarts in London, UK

After several months of suspension due to the implementation of epidemic control in the United Kingdom, Assange's extradition hearing was restarted in the London court on the 7th local time.

On the same day, Assange officially rejected the extradition request issued by the United States in June.

The United States accused Assange, 49, of hacking government computers as a hacker, and his website WikiLeaks violated relevant espionage laws.

During the hearing, Assange’s supporters stated outside the court that Assange had exposed the abuse of power by the United States.

Assange’s team of lawyers pointed out: In the face of political charges, Assange will not get a fair trial in the United States; if he is sent to the United States, Assange may commit suicide or face 175 years in prison.

In 2010, the WikiLeaks website released a video exposing that the US military used Apache helicopters to attack Baghdad in 2007 and caused the deaths of more than a dozen people, including two Reuters news personnel.

Assange has since become one of the international news figures.
