Novak Djokovic, world No. 1 and favorite of the US Open, was disqualified Sunday in the round of 16 for having sent a ball at a linesman, under the rules.
Djokovic had just lost his serve and was led 6-5 by Pablo Carreno when, going to sit down, he struck without looking at the ball that was left in his hand towards the baseline.
The ball hit a linesman violently who let out a cry and fell, visibly hit in the neck.
