"Alarming situation".

Since Saturday, the North has become an "active circulation zone" for the coronavirus, or "red zone".

In less than a week, the incidence rate fell from 37 to 64.3 for the department and even 65 for the European metropolis of Lille (MEL) alone.

An "unfavorable and rapid" evolution of the health situation which led the prefect of the North, Michel Lalande, to take new measures to try to stop the epidemic.

At the end of this weekend of no clearance sale, which however saw many people flocking to the streets of Lille, the bad news fell.

Or rather has been confirmed since everyone had been expecting for a few days that the Nord department would turn red.

The two indices, incidence rate and positivity rate, continue to grow in the Lille metropolis "where the mixing of populations and gatherings are conducive to a rapid spread of the virus" declares the prefecture.

The state services also specify that it is young people (15-45 years) who are the most affected.

Specific measures for the metropolis of Lille

Suddenly, to "avoid the reconfinement" of the population, the prefect of the North imposes new measures from this Sunday.

Thus, throughout the department, it is no longer possible to obtain an exemption to organize events bringing together more than 5,000 people.

Establishments open to the public (ERP), such as cinemas or theaters, now have the obligation to “respect the minimum distance of a seat between two respective groups of 10 people maximum.

"

For the specific territory of the MEL, where the health situation is even more worrying, “restaurants, drinking establishments and similar and general food shops now have an obligation to close from 12:30 am to 6 am for a period of 15 days”, specifies the prefectural decree.

The representative of the State also ensures that these measures will be accompanied by a strengthening of controls, but also of prevention, "in particular with regard to students and young adults within party circles.
