Lena had recently been left behind after a long marriage when she decided to create a profile on a dating site.

It did not take long before it rang on the cell phone.

The man who heard from him called himself Alfred and said that he was a civil engineer from England, with roots in Sweden.

They started a relationship online and he said he was open to moving to Sweden.

- It felt like a relationship.

We were in some strange way in love even though we had never met, says Lena in the documentary "Cheated on love and millions".

Lena is open about what she has experienced and feels no shame.

- I want to tell you that no one else ends up in this situation, she says.

"Took loan after loan"

Lena became one of many people who every year are exposed to online romance scams by polished fraudsters.

"Alfred" claimed that he had gotten into temporary trouble and that Lena was the only one who could help him.

She would soon get the money back.

- I took loan after loan, the debt increased to 6-digit, says Lena.

- But I would never have given him the little finger, because he was looking for the whole hand.

Want to know more about Lena's story and how the fraudsters do to steal their victims' money?

Watch the first part of the documentary Cheated on love and millions on Thursday 10 September on SVT1.

The documentary can also be seen right now on SVT Play.
