Egyptian activists and dissidents said that a consultant psychiatrist, Dr. Amr Abu Khalil, died today, Sunday, in his prison cell in Scorpion Prison in Cairo, becoming the latest case among hundreds of deaths in Egyptian prisons due to medical negligence or torture, according to human rights organizations.

Activists mourned him by saying that he died from medical negligence after a year in prison, and they asserted that he had no charge, but the authorities imprisoned him in retaliation against his brother Haitham Abu Khalil, a human rights activist and political and media activist outside the country.

For its part, the "We Record" platform, which monitors human rights violations, said that Amr Abu Khalil had died "of a heart attack after an altercation between him and the prison administration, in objection to preventing the entry of medicines to detainees and preventing them from entering the prison hospital for treatment."

She indicated that the authorities arrested him on October 2 last year from inside his clinic after storming and terrorizing patients.

Because his brother is defending their victims, they made him a victim who was

killed by medical negligence in a lonely detention that was led to him without guilt except that he is the brother of the journalist Haitham Abu Khalil Nanaei

of the Silent Doctors Syndicate, Consultant Psychiatrist Dr.
