China News Service, Beijing, September 5-On the evening of September 4, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended a video meeting of the foreign ministers of the BRICS countries in Beijing.

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov presided over the meeting. Indian Foreign Minister Jason Su, South African Foreign Minister Pandor, and Brazilian Foreign Minister Araujo attended the meeting.

Wang Yi said that since the beginning of this year, the BRICS countries have gone all out to overcome the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic. The spirit of partnership to overcome difficulties together.

Wang Yi said that the current world has entered a period of turbulence and adjustment, facing a series of new threats and challenges.

The new crown pneumonia epidemic poses a direct threat to human health, unilateral bullying poses a severe challenge to the international order, and protectionism has a major impact on the world economy.

However, the trend of the times of peace, development, cooperation, and win-win has not changed, the development law of economic globalization in the twists and turns has not changed, and the basic trend of the collective rise of emerging economies represented by the BRICS has not changed.

The BRICS countries should boost their confidence, deepen cooperation, strengthen coordination, and take responsibility for international peace and global development.

Wang Yi put forward four proposals.

First, jointly respond to the challenges of the epidemic.

China agrees to make public health cooperation the priority of BRICS cooperation and supports the establishment of a rapid response mechanism for the BRICS to respond to the threat of new infectious diseases such as COVID-19.

The BRICS countries should strengthen joint prevention and control, increase support and investment in the World Health Organization, and build a community of human health.

Vaccines should not be monopolized by any country, nor should they be exclusive to the rich and powerful countries.

We must jointly contribute to the realization of the availability and affordability of vaccines in developing countries, and promote the construction of the BRICS vaccine research and development center.

  Second, jointly promote multilateralism.

Faced with endless global threats and challenges, we need to uphold multilateralism more than ever before and safeguard the central role of the United Nations in international affairs.

The victory of the World Anti-Fascist War cannot be tampered with, and the contribution of the United Nations to world peace and development cannot be denied.

It is necessary to maintain the international order based on international law, practice the concept of win-win cooperation, oppose "withdrawing from the group" and "breaking contracts", and oppose the instigation of ideological and social system opposition.

We must balance fairness and efficiency, and reform and improve the global governance system.

Third, jointly promote the recovery of the world economy.

Under the premise of ensuring safety, actively carry out post-epidemic economic reconstruction, orderly promote the resumption of work and production and school, and establish "fast channels" for personnel exchanges and "green channels" for cargo transportation.

Resolutely safeguard the multilateral trading system, promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, and achieve high-quality development and "green recovery."

Oppose the politicization of scientific and technological issues, oppose unilateral sanctions and long-arm jurisdiction, and promote countries to provide enterprises with a fair, just and non-discriminatory business environment.

Fourth, jointly promote political settlement of hot issues.

The United Nations should play an important role of good offices and mediation, oppose blindly imposing sanctions and opposing threats of force.

We must uphold the principle of national sovereignty, oppose interference in other countries' internal affairs, and countermeasures to initiate color revolutions.

When talking about the next stage of cooperation between the BRICS countries, Wang Yi said that we must make every effort to prepare for the leaders’ meeting and jointly promote the leaders’ meeting to achieve positive results; build a solid foundation for political security cooperation, jointly safeguard international fairness and justice, and oppose the Frontierism; build a building for economic, trade, financial and financial cooperation, expand the international influence of the New Development Bank, accelerate the construction of the new industrial revolution partnership, carry out more mutually beneficial and win-win practical cooperation; tighten the bonds of cultural exchanges and cooperation, and promote cultural mutual learning , The people know each other on a blind date.

Wang Yi emphasized that the world is undergoing major changes unseen in a century.

The BRIC countries, which own 30% of the world's land, 42% of the population, and one-fifth of the total economy, should become a stable anchor in the great changes.

As long as we stay united and work together, the BRICS countries can further become a force for maintaining world peace and stability, a driving force for global common development, and a force for promoting international fairness and justice.

This is not only in the common interests of the BRICS countries, but will also benefit the world.

The foreign ministers of the five participating countries exchanged in-depth views on the global situation, regional hotspot issues and cooperation among the BRICS countries.

All parties spoke highly of the fruitful results of the BRICS "three-wheel drive" cooperation, highly appreciated the work done by Russia as the rotating presidency, and agreed that under the current situation, the BRICS countries need to strengthen their unity and meet the challenges together.

The foreign ministers at the meeting emphasized that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. All parties should work to uphold the basic norms of international relations based on the UN Charter, support the democratization of international relations and the multipolarization of the world, and respect the principles of sovereign equality and non-interference in internal affairs.

All parties emphasized that political and diplomatic methods should be used to resolve international and regional hotspot issues through dialogue.

All parties believe that multilateralism is the most effective way to fight the epidemic and agree to strengthen BRICS cooperation in the fight against the epidemic to make greater contributions to global public health security.
